Subject: October 2019 Sobriety and Safety Checkpoint

The Platte County Sheriffs Office may be conducting sobriety and safety checkpoints throughout the month of October 2019. Sheriff Mark Owen would like to remind motorist that if you encounter a checkpoint the delay you experience will be brief. If a driver is suspected of being intoxicated, he/she will be asked to complete the Standard Field Sobriety Tests. Any driver found to be impaired will be arrested and transported to the Platte County Detention Center.

During these checkpoints drivers will also be asked to show their drivers license and proof of insurance as well as checking for drivers and passengers not wearing their seatbelts. If a driver or passenger is observed not wearing their seatbelt or not able to prove they have valid insurance they may be issued a citation.

Sheriff Mark Owen and the Platte County Sheriffs Office appreciate the cooperation and patience from the public as we conduct these checkpoints and take driving under the influence serious and value the safety of motorist on Platte County roadways.
