Subject: Update... Major River Flooding Warning!

The Platte County Commission, Sheriff Mark Owen and the Platte County Emergency Management continue to monitor the Missouri and Platte Rivers and potential impacts to the county. All stakeholders remain actively engaged.

- The Missouri River at Atchison, Leavenworth and Parkville remain in a Flood Warning.
- Waters appear to be re-entering the Missouri River upstream from breeched levees. This is expected to cause a slight increase in the previously projected crests. Additionally, the forecasted crest arrival has been moved up by 6-12 hours from previous projections.
- The Missouri River at Atchison remains in the Moderate flood stage (27 feet) with a reading of 28.71 feet at 9am today. The river is now forecasted to reach Major flood stage (30 feet) at approximately noon Wednesday, March 20, 2019. The river is forecasted to remain in Major flood stage until mid-morning hours of Saturday, March 23, 2019. The crest at Atchison is now forecasted at 31.2 feet in the early morning hours Friday, March 22, 2019.
- The Missouri River at Leavenworth remains in the Moderate flood stage (24 feet) with a reading of 25.38 feet at 10am today. The river is forecasted to remain in Moderate flood stage until approximately noon on Sunday, March 24, 2019. The crest at Leavenworth is now forecasted at 29.2 feet at approximately 7pm on Thursday, March 21, 2019.
- The Missouri River, at Parkville, remains in Moderate flood stage (28 feet) with a reading of 29.54 feet at 10:45am today. The river is forecasted to remain in Moderate flood stage until the early afternoon hours of March 24, 2019. The crest at Parkville is now forecasted at 33.4 feet during the mid-morning hours of Friday, March 22, 2019.
- The Platte River at Platte City and Sharps Station are no longer in a Flood warning.
- People who live in low lying areas along the Missouri River are reminded and encouraged to take appropriate actions and to monitor the river levels for any change.
