Subject: Sheriff Owen to host fifth Citizen Academy

Sheriff Owen is pleased to announce that the Platte County Sheriff's Office will host a citizen's academy this fall in Platte County. Participants will get an in-depth look at Sheriff's Office operations and will be instructed by deputies on subjects related to all of the divisions of the Sheriff's Office. Participation in the Academy is free of charge.

The fifth Platte County Sheriff's Citizen's Academy will start on Wednesday September 13, 2017. The deadline to apply is Thursday August 31, 2017 and the application is available on our website. The Academy will meet Wednesday nights from 6:30pm until 9:30pm for nine weeks. One Saturday afternoon session (October 14, 2017 from 9:00am to 4:00pm) will also be part of the Academy. Class size is limited to 20 people. Citizens of Platte County and people who run businesses in Platte County are eligible to enroll in the Academy. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
