Security Services Unit

The Security Services Unit is charged with the responsibility of security of the Platte County Government complex, which includes the Courthouse, Administrative Building, Juvenile Annex, and the Tom Thomas Law Enforcement Center. The Security Services Unit also provides security for the five Circuit Court Judges while their courts are in session.

Personal Property Identification Number System

A resident of Platte County may obtain a personal property identification number by contacting the Security Services Unit located in the Courthouse. The unique number will assist law enforcement officials across the country to identify and recover stolen personal property. It is suggested that your unique Personal Property Identification Number be permanently adhered to your object. In most cases an engraving tool will be adequate. In certain situations placing the number on a piece of tape will be suitable. The number should be placed in an area that would not be readily noticeable to a thief to prevent removal or disfigurement. Remember to record the location of the number to assist any investigating law enforcement agency in the event that the property is stolen. This service is provided free of charge by contacting the Security Services Unit during business hours or calling 858-3408.
